Portuguese club Sporting Lisbon have completed the signing of Senegalese winger Souleymane Faye from Spanish side Granada this week.
The 22-year-old rose through the ranks of the Granada’s B team, before returning to the club’s senior team last summer and has now departed after only six months. Faye featured 19 times in the Spanish Segunda division this season, scoring twice and providing six assists which caught the eyes of the Portuguese side.
Sporting Lisbon will pay a fee in the region of about €6.5 million for the young forward, who has penned a four-and-a-half-year contract at the club until 2030, with a release clause of €80 million included in the agreement.
The Green and whites view the 22-year-old as a replacement for Portuguese forward Geovany Quenda, who will join English Premier League outfit Chelsea in the summer after a deal was agreed last year. The Senegal winger is comfortable on both wings will strengthen Sporting Lisbon’s squad with his versatility across the attacking positions.

Transfer fee and contract details
Sporting Lisbon agreed to pay a fee in the region of €6.5 million including add-ons to complete the signature of the exciting winger and also inserted an €80 million release clause in the contract.
Faye also agreed a four-and-a-half year deal at the Portuguese champions, which potentially keeps him at the club until the summer of 2030.
He becomes the club’s second attacking addition of the month, following the arrival of Luis Guilherme from West Ham United earlier in the transfer window, as they push for a third consecutive league title.
How much will Faye earn at Sporting Lisbon
Souleymane Faye earned about €1,229 per week at Granada, amounting to about €63,900 per year, but will receive a significant pay upgrade after signing a long-term contract at Sporting Lisbon.
