Ghanaian midfielder Majeed Ashimeru’s highly anticipated switch from Belgian giants Anderlecht to Bundesliga newcomers St. Pauli is hanging by a thread, with a collapse the imminent outcome, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.

Although the 27-year-old has already agreed personal terms with St. Pauli, his parent club Anderlecht remains unconvinced by the German outfit’s €3 million offer, leaving the deal in serious doubt.

Ashimeru accepts St. Pauli offer, but Anderlecht yet to sign the deal

According to a source close at Ashimeru’s management agency, Libera Sports, the versatile midfielder had accepted a three-year contract with St. Pauli, with an option for an additional year, but the Belgian club’s reluctance to sanction the transfer has created a major stumbling block.

“Ashimeru gave his green light to St. Pauli after successful negotiations, but Anderlecht are stalling. They are still weighing their options on whether they can secure a replacement before letting him leave. The uncertainty is threatening to derail the deal,” the source exclusively disclosed to Footy-Africa.

Ashimeru, contracted to Anderlecht until June 2027, has been a key figure in the squad over the past five years, making 129 appearances and featuring in two separate loan spells with RSCA Futures. His experience across European football, with Salzburg, St. Gallen, Wolfsberger AC and Austria Lustenau was among the key reasons St. Pauli pushed for his signature.

Meanwhile, on the international front, the midfielder, whose transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €1.5 million, has been capped 13 times for the Black Stars, but his future at club level now hangs in the balance as Anderlecht appear reluctant to cash in on him.
