Ugandan international and striker Samuel Ssenyonjo has departed seven-time Uganda Premier League champions Express FC, as he gears to wrap his move to East African powerhouse Rwanda Police Football Club, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

This comes after Rwanda Police FC reached an agreement with Express for Ssenyonjo’s move, with the former set to pay €125,000 as compensation for the one-year remainder of his contract. Additionally, the player will have his medicals on Friday, and will subsequently sign a three-year contract.

His agent at Prosper Sports Agency, Dennis Namanya, Rwanda Police FC made contact last week and negotiations have been ongoing till an agreement was reached on Wednesday. He further added that Ssenyonjo will jet to Rwanda on Thursday and sign his contract on Friday.

“Express and Rwanda Police FC agreed to a deal on Wednesday and a payment of €125,000 will be made after his medical on Friday. The contract duration is three years, and it gives him (Ssenyonjo) a chance to compete at a bigger stage. We are convinced that it’s the right move for our player, as he continues to improve his general game,” Namanya exclusively told Footy-Africa in an interview.

Last season, Ssenyonjo was arguably Express’s best player, as he played 24 matches across all competitions, netting 13 goals with four assists. He joined them from Soltilo Bright Stars FC, where he had played for a season. In the past, the 23-year-old has played for Wakiso Giants FC and 13-time Uganda Premier League holders KCCA FC.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, Ssenyonjo has made two caps for the Uganda senior national team, The Cranes. He has also previously played for Uganda’s youth-level U17 and U20 national teams.
