Ghanaian forward Sumaila Wasiu has told Footy-Africa in an exclusive interview that he is delighted after completing a move to Serbian Superliga side Zeleznicar Pancevo during the summer transfer window.

The 21-year-old sees the transfer as a major breakthrough and believes it offers him the platform to push for his long-term ambition of representing Ghana at senior international level.

β€œI really love this deal,” Wasiu exclusively told Footy-Africa. β€œIt is a big opportunity for me and I want to make the most of it. I believe this move can help me grow as a player and move closer to my dream of playing for the Ghana national team.”

Although the club has not officially disclosed the financial details, sources have revealed that Wasiu joined Zeleznicar on a free transfer and will earn around €1,000 per month, a figure considered standard for young players in the Serbian league.

Wasiu arrives in Serbia after an encouraging spell in Belgium with Lokeren, where he scored two goals in 14 league appearances. His performances earned him the chance to step up to a more competitive environment.

The former Right to Dream Academy player believes Serbia is the right place to continue his development.

β€œThis is a good league for young players,” he added. β€œI will work hard, stay focused, and help the team achieve its goals.”

Zeleznicar Pancevo are targeting a strong domestic campaign and a place in next season’s UEFA Champions League qualifiers, with Wasiu expected to play an important role in their attacking plans.
