Three Turkish clubs—Kocaelispor, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce—have all formally entered talks with Nigerian international forward Henry Onyekuru over a potential transfer, exclusive sources have disclosed to Footy-Africa.

Onyekuru will become a free agent on June 30, as his contract with Saudi Pro League outfit Al-Fayha comes to an end. With no discussions for a contract renewal underway, the player is set to leave the club in search of greener pastures ahead of next season.

An exclusive source revealed to Footy-Africa that Kocaelispor, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce have all made inquiries through his representatives at Foot&Ball about his situation and potential personal terms. All three clubs are prepared to push for a deal in the coming days. While Kocaelispor is offering a four-year contract, both Besiktas and Fenerbahce have tabled three-year deals.

“Over the past three days, Kocaelispor, Besiktas, and Fenerbahce have made inquiries as they want to sign him (Onyekuru). He is keen on a move to Turkey, having previously played there for Adana Demirspor and Galatasaray. He’s still assessing all the options, as he doesn’t want to rush anything. He rejected a move to Toulouse in France because he didn’t feel the project was the right one. At the moment, Kocaelispor appear to be the slight favourites in the race,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

It should be recalled that the 28-year-old joined Al-Fayha from Turkish side Adana Demirspor in 2023 and will leave the club after 38 matches, having scored 11 goals and provided three assists. In his final season at the club, he was limited to just four appearances. During his stint at Adana Demirspor, he netted eight goals and registered two assists in 30 games.

Previously, Onyekuru—whose Transfermarkt valuation is estimated at €3 million—featured for Olympiacos in Greece, Galatasaray in Turkey, Monaco in France, Everton in the English Premier League, and Belgian sides Anderlecht and KAS Eupen.

Meanwhile, on the international stage, the forward has earned 15 competitive caps for the Nigerian senior national team, the Super Eagles, contributing one goal and two assists.
