Tottenham Hotspur vs Brentford Match Preview

Tottenham Hotspur head into the clash hoping to turn around their poor record in front of their home fans this season. They have not won at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium since the opening weekend of the season and have lost three of their last four matches at home.

Spurs suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Fulham last weekend and face a clash against Newcastle United in midweek, as they hope to move higher than their 12th position in the standings as Thomas Frank faces his former side for the first time since his departure in the summer.

Brentford, on the other hand, have enjoyed a decent start to the new season under new manager Keith Andrews and currently sit higher than Spurs in the standings. They have won six of their 13 league games so far, recording one draw and also losing six times.

The Bees face league leaders Arsenal in midweek and will have to improve on their away record as they have lost their last two matches on the road in the league.

Head-to-Head Record (Last five meetings)

  • 02.02.2025 – Brentford 0-2 Tottenham
  • 21.09.2024 – Tottenham 3-1 Brentford
  • 31.01.2024 – Tottenham 3-2 Brentford
  • 13.08.2023 – Brentford 2-2 Tottenham
  • 20.05.2023 – Tottenham 1-3 Brentford

Tottenham have dominated this matchup in recent meetings, recording three wins to a single win by Brentford.

Spurs have also lost just once in the last nine meetings between both sides, although it was in front of their home fans in 2023.

Recent Form: Tottenham

Tottenham’s recent form has been disappointing, as they are winless in their last five matches across all competitions and have suffered three straight defeats.

Spurs have not won at home in the league since August, although they have won both of their games at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium in the UEFA Champions League.

Recent Form: Brentford

Brentford have improved in recent matchups, recording victories in five of their last seven games in all competitions, including a remarkable 3-2 win over Liverpool.

The Bees have only won once on the road in the league this season, a 2-0 win over relegation-threatened West Ham United in October, but will be buoyed by the form of striker Igor Thiago, who has scored five times in his last three appearances.

Player to Watch: Mohammed Kudus

Tottenham Hotspur winger Mohammed Kudus returned to the scoresheet with a stunning strike against Fulham and will fancy his chances of repeating the feat against the Bees.

The forward will be a major threat going forward with his pace and impressive dribbling ability.

Prediction

This fixture has a strong history of delivering plenty of goals, as seen in their last five encounters, and this clash is expected to continue that trend given the attacking quality both teams possess.
