English Championship side Middlesbrough are interested in signing Aderemi Adeoye from Nigeria Premier Football League club Ikorodu City, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
A source close to the club has told Footy-Africa that the teenager is currently on trial at Middlesbrough for several weeks while discussions over a potential transfer continue.
Although some reports have suggested that a deal is close to being completed, Footy-Africa understands that no agreement has yet been reached. Negotiations are expected to continue after the player’s trial period.
Adeoye enjoyed a breakthrough campaign with Ikorodu City last season, playing a key role as the club reached the final of the President Federation Cup.
The teenage midfielder also received his first senior Nigeria call-up in May, when head coach Eric Chelle included him in the squad for the Unity Cup.
Highly regarded as a defensive midfielder, Adeoye is known for his aerial ability, passing range, ball-winning qualities, technical skills and tireless box-to-box displays.
The 19-year-old will now look to impress Middlesbrough’s coaching staff as he bids to secure a move to English football.
