Following weeks of talks, Ugandan international and winger Martin Kizza has reached an agreement with Croatian club Slaven Belupo Koprivnica over a move, Footy-Africa sources have exclusively learned.

The deal quashes recent reports that indicated that Kizza, who is a free agent after the expiry of his contract at Ethiopian Premier League side Fasil Kenema, was to join South Africa’s Premier Soccer League (PSL) side Amazulu FC.

Meanwhile, as per the documents seen by Footy-Africa, his move to Slaven Belupo Koprivnica will see him sign a two-year employment contract. The 27-year-old will also smile to the bank with a sign-on fee of €55,000 (about 222 million shillings) and a monthly salary of €11,000 (Shs. 45 million).

A source within his agency, Team Royal Agents, has exclusively disclosed to Footy-Africa that Kizza will travel to Croatia on Thursday morning for medical tests lined up for Saturday this week.

“After weeks of tireless work, it’s all done and comes up to this. Kizza will sign with Slaven Belupo, as there’s a gentleman’s agreement at this point. It will be a two-year contract, though the preference had initially been three. Paperwork for his travel has been secured for earlier on Thursday, and he should sign after the Saturday tests (medical).”

This will mark Kizza’s maiden spell in Europe, having spent his career in clubs across Uganda, South Africa and Ethiopia. He has previously played for Vipers, KCCA FC, SC Villa and Express FC in the Uganda Premier League. In South Africa, he featured for Free States Stars and Royal Eagles. At Fasil Kenema last season, he played 27 matches, scoring four goals and registering seven assists.

Internationally, at the senior national team, the Uganda Cranes, the experienced and versatile winger has accumulated 15 competitive caps, scoring four goals, and assisting on one occasion.
