Nigeria and Galatasaray talisman Victor Osimhen has no plans to acquire the Turkish side Istanbulspor, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
Rumors had intensified across Nigerian and Turkish media claiming the former African Footballer of the Year was targeting purchase the club and establish a “football bridge” between Nigeria and Türkiye.
The reports suggested Osimhen aimed to create a structured pathway for young African talent, including the setup of a grassroots academy in Nigeria.
However, renowned photojournalist Suleiman “Pooja” Adebayo—a close associate of the former Napoli striker—has dismissed these claims as baseless.
”Pure fiction”
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa Adebayo who covered the UEFA Champions League clash between Osimhen’s Galatasaray and Liverpool, Adebayo clarified the striker’s current priorities.
”It’s not true; it is fake news,” Adebayo stated. “Victor Osimhen has no plan to buy the club, and there is no information to that effect. I can also confirm that Victor does not have an academy in Nigeria, contrary to what is being claimed.”

Adebayo emphasized that the 26-year-old’s immediate focus remains on the pitch:
“He is solely focused on recovering from his injury and returning to help Galatasaray.”
Record-breaking season
Osimhen’s arrival in Istanbul has been nothing short of historic. Following his blockbuster €75m move from Napoli in 2025, he became the most expensive signing in the history of Turkish football.

He also holds the title of the Süper Lig’s highest-ever earner, commanding a staggering €18m annual salary. On the field, he has justified the investment, racking up 19 goals and 7 assists in 29 appearances this term as Galatasaray continues its hunt for silverware.
