Uganda Premier League champions Vipers SC are closing in on the signing of midfielder Joel Sserunjogi after the player declined to renew his contract with 13-time league winners KCCA FC, exclusive sources have revealed to Footy-Africa.
The Venoms, who are eight-time Uganda Premier League champions, have been long-time admirers of the Ugandan international and are now prepared to offer him a three-year contract ahead of the new season.
Sserunjogi is expected to leave KCCA FC after spending three successful seasons at the Lugogo-based club, where he established himself as one of the league’s most consistent midfielders.
The 23-year-old featured in 97 matches for KCCA during his stay and played a key role in the club’s performances across domestic competitions.
His impressive displays at club level also earned him recognition on the international stage, making nine appearances for the Uganda Cranes national team so far.
The midfielder’s potential move to Vipers SC would be considered one of the major transfer developments in Ugandan football this window, with the Kitende-based side looking to strengthen their squad ahead of the upcoming campaign and continental assignments.
Neither KCCA FC nor Vipers SC have officially commented on the player’s situation yet, but sources indicate negotiations are progressing positively.
