Super Eagles captain Wilfred Ndidi in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has stated that he and his teammates are ready to face Madagascar as qualifiers for the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations get underway.
Speaking to Footy-Africa before the team’s final training session ahead of the group opener, the Besiktas player said the team is ready to make amends.
“What happened, our inability to qualify for the World Cup will never happen again, as we are determined to give our best. We don’t care about the other teams, we are only interested in ourselves and what we want to do. We need to set a standard from the first game, and we know what to do. The players are all ready, and it is something we are focused on.”
“It is important that we start on a good note, so that we set the pace for the rest of the qualifiers. Like I said, we need to start well. What happened last time, when we started badly in the first few home games, will not happen again.”

“I understand this, the players understand this, and we have to go all out and get what we need to get, so that we qualify. We are not looking at other teams. We are only focused on ourselves and what we can do,” he added.
Nigeria will start another campaign for a place at Africa’s showpiece football event when they face the Barea at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium in Uyo, in a Matchday one encounter on Friday.

They are in a group with tournament hosts Tanzania, Guinea-Bissau and Madagascar, which means only one team, aside from the hosts, can actually qualify for the finals from the group.
