Austrian Bundesliga side Wolfsberger AC have declined a €1 million offer from French Ligue 2 club AS Saint-Étienne for Ghanaian youngster Emmanuel Agyemang, exclusive Footy-Africa sources have confirmed.

Saint-Étienne have long admired the 21-year-old, having scouted him on numerous occasions with the intention of securing his signature in the current transfer window. Although they finally submitted an official bid, Wolfsberger stood firm and rejected the offer.

A source close to Marcel Veerman, the player’s agent, revealed that Wolfsberger value Agyemang at €3 million. The club is also in talks to extend his contract by an additional four years, as his current deal runs until 2026.

“Saint-Étienne made their approach earlier on Friday with a €1 million bid, but it was immediately turned down by Wolfsberger before any negotiations. Wolfsberger want €3 million from any suitors, but they also still want the player, with ongoing talks for a new four-year deal. Saint-Étienne are likely to return with an improved bid, well aware that there are other interested parties across Europe,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

The central midfielder impressed in his debut season at Wolfsberger, scoring three goals and providing six assists in 28 senior team appearances. He also featured four times for the reserves, scoring once. Agyemang is a product of the renowned West African Football Academy (WAFA).

Internationally, while Agyemang—whose Transfermarkt valuation stands at €2 million—has yet to earn a senior Black Stars call-up, he is considered one of the country’s brightest prospects.
