Bundesliga side Wolfsburg have stolen a march on Everton in the pursuit of Blackburn Rovers defender Ryan Alebiosu, according to Africafoot.

The 24-year-old right-back, who is currently away on international duty with Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations, has become a hot property following a string of impressive displays in the Championship.

While Everton are understood to be monitoring the situation, it is Wolfsburg who have firmed up their interest as they look to bolster their defensive options for the second half of the German season.

From Arsenal prospect to Championship standout

Alebiosu, a product of Arsenal’s famed Hale End academy, has truly found his feet at Ewood Park this term.

He has made 20 appearances in the second tier, earning plaudits for his athleticism and ability to support the attack from deep.

His form did not go unnoticed by Super Eagles coach Eric Chelle, who included the London-born defender in his AFCON squad, further inflating a reputation that was already on the rise.

Decision to make

Valued at approximately €1.2m (£1m), Alebiosu is currently under contract with Rovers until 2028.2 However, the lure of top-flight football—either in the Premier League or the Bundesliga—may prove difficult for both the player and the club to ignore.

Sources suggest that Wolfsburg have accelerated their pursuit in recent days, positioning themselves as the frontrunners to secure his signature before the winter window slams shut.

Should a move to Germany materialize, Alebiosu would follow a growing trend of English-reared talents seeking a career breakthrough in the Bundesliga.
