Yankuba Jarju signs a two-year deal with Serbian Side Radnički 1923

Gambian international Yankuba Jarju has completed a move to Serbian top-flight club Radnički 1923, signing a two-year contract after departing French club Quevilly-Rouen Métropole (QRM), Footy-Africa can confirm.

The transfer was completed on a free basis, despite Jarju having a valid contract with QRM until June 2026. As part of the agreement, the French club secured a 10% sell-on clause for any future transfer.

Jarju, 28, makes the switch after several seasons in France’s lower divisions, looking to take the next step in his career with Radnički 1923, who are in the midst of a squad rebuild with continental ambitions.

Speaking on the move exclusively to Footy-Africa, Sheriff ML Jarjue, the player’s agent, highlighted the significance of the transfer and the vision behind it.

“The project that was presented to us was impressive and provides Yankuba with the opportunity to reach greater heights in his footballing career. The team sees Yankuba as a key player in the new project they are building,” said Jarjue. “Also, if he transforms well, it will give him a strong platform to further his career.”

The agent also emphasised the strategic nature of the move, both for club and country.

“Over the next two seasons, we hope to see him and his team perform well in the Serbian league, qualify for European club competitions, and earn a place in the national team of The Gambia,” he added.

With a fresh challenge ahead, Jarju will now look to establish himself in the Serbian SuperLiga and use the opportunity as a springboard for greater success at both club and international level.
