Zambian midfielder Miguel Chaiwa has completed a move to Scottish Premiership side Hibernian Football Club from Swiss outfit BSC Young Boys, club announced.
The 21-year-old has signed a three-year contract for an undisclosed fee, the club confirmed on Friday.
Chaiwa departs Young Boys after joining them in 2022, having made 31 appearances across all competitions. Fifteen of those came during the 2024/25 season, including UEFA Champions League fixtures against Galatasaray, Celtic, and Red Star Belgrade. He was also part of the Young Boys squad that won both the Swiss Cup and the Swiss Super League in the 2022/23 campaign.
Capped 11 times by the Zambia National Team, Chaiwa expressed his enthusiasm about the new chapter in his career.
“I’m really, really happy to be here. Looking at how they welcome me, it’s been more like a family welcome. So I’m really, really happy and excited to be here,” he told the club’s media. “I believe in every life, in football, there is always a new chapter. So I decided to carry on in a new chapter, and in a new environment for me.”
Chaiwa now becomes the second Zambian to feature in the Scottish Premiership, following Fashion Sakala’s successful stint with Rangers FC.
