Danish top-flight powerhouse FC Copenhagen have re-opened negotiations with Swedish Allsvenskan side IFK Norrkoping over the possible acquisition of Ghanaian youngster and defender Kojo Peprah Oppong, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The 21-year-old’s impressive displays for Norrkoping have caught the eye of Copenhagen head coach Jacob Neestrup, who is a long-term admirer. The coach had sanctioned his purchase months back, before talks were put on hold. The club has now re-initiated the talks with the hope of securing him for the new season.

An exclusive source at UKSPORTMANAGEMENT.COM, who are Oppong’s representatives, has revealed that the record 16-time Danish Superliga champions have made contact yet again with Norrkoping, as they intend to nail the player to a four-year contract at the Parken Stadium. His contract at Norrkoping expires in June 2026.

“They (Copenhagen) are back and in direct talks with both the club (Norrkoping) and the player. Last time, they made approaches and inquired but didn’t push further. Now, they want him for the new season, and for the next four years. Oppong is open to a departure, but he will wait until the clubs reach an agreement, he is calm and in no rush,” the exclusive source told Footy-Africa.

At Norrkoping last season, Oppong, whose transfermarkt valuation has shot up to €1 million, made 20 appearances, and completed 90 minutes on 17 occasions.

He previously played for Norrkoping’s reserves team and Swedish side GIF Sundsvall where he had spent two seasons on loan from the former. With GIF Sundsvall, he made 41 appearances.

Meanwhile, at the international stage, Oppong has yet to play a single game for Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars. A rise to a more reputable league would most definitely change the current tide.
