Chelsea vs Man United match preview

Chelsea head into the clash on the back of a disappointing 3-0 defeat to title chasing Manchester City in their last match. The Blues have come under intense pressure in recent outings after humiliating defeats to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League and Newcastle United, Everton and Man City in the league.

The London side are sixth on the standings with 48 points and are four points from a top five finish with only six games left in the Premier League this season, leaving them in danger of failing to qualify for Europe’s elite club competition.

Manchester United, on the other hand, suffered a disappointing 2-1 defeat to Leeds United in their last outing, which also saw them reduced to 10 men after Lisandro Martinez received his marching orders.

However, the Red Devils remain in third position with 55 points, level with fourth placed Aston Villa and are three points above Liverpool, who are in fifth position. The defeat to Leeds also marked their second since the arrival of Michael Carrick in January and their seventh in the Premier League this season.

Prediction

Four of the last five meetings between these two sides have seen both teams score, and that trend is expected to continue given their recent defensive struggles.

Recent form: Chelsea

Chelsea have been very poor in recent outings and have lost five of their last six matches across all competitions, with their only win coming in a 7-0 thrashing of Port Vale in the FA Cup quarter-final earlier in the month.

The Blues are also winless in their six of their last seven Premier League matches, including losing the last three and have not kept a clean sheet in the league since January.

Recent form: Man United

Manchester United have been inconsistent in recent outings and have only managed one win from their last four games, losing twice and recording one draw.

The Red Devils are also without a clean sheet in any of their last five matches and they are winless in their last two away games in the Premier League.
