Jordan Ayew is preparing for a new chapter in his career after Leicester City confirmed the veteran forward will depart the club this summer in the aftermath of their disappointing relegation campaign.
The Foxes announced that the Ghana captain is among 10 senior players leaving the club following a disastrous season that ended with demotion from the Championship to League One, a stunning fall for a side that had only recently celebrated a return to the Premier League.
Ayew arrived at Leicester in August 2024 from in a deal reportedly worth an initial £5 million, with performance-related bonuses capable of pushing the fee to £8 million.

Leicester viewed the experienced attacker as a crucial addition after earning promotion back to the English top flight, banking on his leadership and Premier League pedigree to steady the squad.
Despite the club’s struggles, the 34-year-old remained a trusted presence throughout the campaign. Operating across several attacking roles, Ayew delivered six goals in 42 appearances during the 2025/26 season while offering experience in a youthful squad battling inconsistency and pressure.
Before his switch to Leicester, the Ghanaian international had enjoyed an accomplished six-year stay at Crystal Palace, where he surpassed 200 appearances and established himself as one of the Premier League’s most dependable forwards. His European journey has also included spells with Swansea City, Aston Villa, Lorient, Sochaux and Marseille.
With well over 500 club appearances and more than a century of career goals to his name, Ayew continues to rank among Ghana’s most accomplished football exports of the modern era.
The focus for the seasoned attacker now shifts back to the international stage, with preparations underway for the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North America. Ayew is expected to lead the Black Stars into the tournament as captain after Ghana were placed in Group L alongside England, Croatia and Panama.
