German-born Gambian midfielder Nuha Jatta is on the verge of joining Portuguese second-tier club SCU Torreense on a permanent transfer from VfB Stuttgart after the two clubs reached an agreement for his move, Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal.
The 20-year-old is currently negotiating personal terms with the Portuguese outfit, although those discussions are not expected to present any obstacles, with the transfer now nearing completion.
Jatta only joined Stuttgart on a permanent deal last summer from RB Leipzig, following an earlier loan spell with Italian side Torino. The agreement between Leipzig and Stuttgart included a future sell-on clause, reflecting the belief in the youngster’s long-term potential.
During the 2025/26 campaign, Jatta featured for Stuttgart’s Under-21 side in Germany’s 3. Liga, making eight appearances and scoring one goal as he continued his development in senior football.
A move to Torreense is expected to provide the talented midfielder with greater opportunities for regular first-team football and European football as he looks to accelerate his progression in one of Europe’s competitive development leagues.
Jatta also recently caught the attention of Gambian football fans after being pictured training in a Gambian national team jersey during his holiday break, further fuelling speculation about his international future. Eligible to represent both Germany and The Gambia, the midfielder continues to be regarded as a player with significant potential.
According to Transfermarkt, Jatta currently has an estimated market value of €200,000 and remains under contract with Stuttgart until June 2027. Despite the length of his existing deal, the Bundesliga club has agreed to his departure as part of the player’s continued development.
