Dutch giants Ajax are on the verge of completing the signing of Nigeria international Tolu Arokodare from English club Wolverhampton Wanderers, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.
Sources close to the player have told Footy-Africa that Arokodare has already left England. He briefly returned to Nigeria to attend to personal matters before travelling to Amsterdam to finalize the move.
The 24-year-old is expected to undergo a medical in the Netherlands before the transfer is officially announced.
Arokodare is set to join Ajax on an initial season-long loan with an option to make the move permanent, less than a year after arriving at Wolves from Belgian side KRC Genk.

His spell at Molineux failed to meet expectations, with the striker scoring six goals in 38 appearances during the 2025-26 campaign as Wolves were relegated from the Premier League.
Last week, reports claimed Arokodare was involved in a training-ground disagreement after being told he would not take part in a first-team session while transfer negotiations were ongoing. However, the Nigerian denied those claims, insisting he had simply fulfilled his contractual obligations.
The difficult season also saw him miss out on a place in Nigeria’s squad for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Footy-Africa understands that Arokodare had hoped to secure a move to Italian side Fiorentina, but the clubs were unable to reach an agreement, leaving the striker disappointed.
Wolves, meanwhile, were keen to sanction a transfer as they look to reduce their wage bill and avoid a further drop in the player’s market value following relegation to the Championship.
With a deal now in place, Arokodare will hope a fresh start at Ajax provides the platform to rediscover the form that established him as one of Belgium’s most prolific forwards during his time at Genk.
