Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare is at loggerheads with English side Wolverhampton Wanderers after he was reportedly prevented from training with the first team.
A source close to the player’s camp told Footy-Africa that Arokodare had simply been trying to remain professional despite his desire to leave the club, but that the situation had been misrepresented.
“He wants to leave and he is frustrated that Wolves are not willing to listen to Fiorentina, who are leading the race for his signature. Even though he wants to leave, he still tried to remain professional by reporting for training. However, they tried to stop him from training, which did not go down well with the player, leading to the stand-off.”
“There was also interest from Trabzonspor, but the player does not want to move to Turkey, at least not at this stage. Serie A is his preferred destination. We hope everything is resolved and that he gets his move to Fiorentina. I have also heard that a newly promoted Italian club are interested, although I do not know which one. Hopefully, something can be worked out so this issue is resolved.”

“The Wolves squad will soon travel for pre-season, and he will not be joining them,” the source added.
Arokodare’s future has been the subject of intense speculation, with the club believed to be keen to part ways with the Nigerian striker and recoup part of the fee they paid following the club’s relegation.
The situation escalated on Tuesday after reports emerged that Wolves’ training session was cancelled when Arokodare allegedly refused to leave the pitch after being prevented from training with the first team.
Wolves manager Cesar Peixoto was reportedly left frustrated by the incident and called off the session, with security subsequently increased to ensure the 25-year-old was not allowed access to the training ground.
