Nigerian forward George Ilenikhena is facing an uncertain future this summer with doubts over whether he would continue at former Saudi Pro League champions Al Ittihad ahead of next season.
The 19-year-old began his career at French side Amiens, before moving to Royal Antwerp in the Belgian league, where he won the Belgian Cup title during the 2022-23 season. He later moved returned to France to join AS Monaco in 2024.
The teenage forward was at the Ligue 1 side until the winter transfer window earlier this year, when he joined Al Ittihad in a fee worth up to €33 million, as a replacement for former Real Madrid forward Karim Benzema, who had departed for league rivals Al Hilal.
However, that move has not paid off and he could soon be on his way out after struggling with fitness which has also limited his playing opportunities with the club.
With the summer transfer window still open, he could be set for a return to Europe as he hopes to revive his career, while a major decision on his international future also awaits, as he is eligible to play for both Nigeria and also France.

West Ham United (England)
Former UEFA Conference League winners West Ham United have shown strong interest in signing Ilenikhena this summer and are expected to step up their bid as they eye major reinforcements ahead of the commencement of the 2026-27 Championship season.
Following their relegation from the Premier League last season, the Hammers want to strengthen and seal an immediate return to the top flight. Ilenikhena has the skillset to excel with the club, and they would also provide him with a new environment as he bids to revive his career.

Genoa (Italy)
Serie A club Genoa also provide another viable destination for the 19-year-old this summer. The Italian club are in need of attacking reinforcements after struggling for attacking output last season.
They previously tried to sign Super Eagles forward Tolu Arokodare, who has since moved to Ajax Amsterdam, but a move for Ilenikhena would suit all parties and offer him a fresh start in a different environment.
Schalke 04 (Germany)
German club Schalke sealed a return to the Bundesliga at the end of last season after finishing as champions of the 2. Bundesliga. This has led to their need to add depth to their squad, as they seek to stay longer in the top flight and avoid an immediate return to the second division.
Ilenikhena’s pace and attacking qualities makes him a solid addition to the squad although they would be looking to negotiate a loan deal rather than a permanent transfer.

Galatasaray (Turkey)
Turkish champions Galatasaray have been long term admirers of Ilenikhena and could finally land their prized target this summer if they can agree a deal with Al Ittihad.
Their need for a new striker has become more intense since the departure of Mauro Icardi last season after his contract expired, and Ilenikhena possesses the quality to play as backup to first choice centre forward Victor Osimhen.
