Following Footy-Africa’s exclusive report that Nigerian winger Yira Sor was on his way to Turkey, the 26-year-old has now completed his move to newly promoted Süper Lig side Amedspor.
Footy-Africa can exclusively reveal that Sor has signed a three-year contract with the Turkish club after successfully completing his medicals on Saturday, bringing an end to his four-year association with Belgian side KRC Genk.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa after signing his contract, Sor expressed his excitement about the move and the opportunity to test himself in another European league.
“After spending time in Belgium, I am excited about this new challenge in a competitive league like the Turkish Süper Lig,” Sor said. “I am happy that the two clubs were able to reach an agreement. For me, this is a new challenge and one that I am willing to take on.”
“There are a lot of Nigerian players in Turkey, especially our captain Wilfred Ndidi, who is with Beşiktaş, Victor Osimhen at Galatasaray and many others. It should be fun facing my fellow Nigerians in the league, and I am also happy that Gift Orban is at the club. I want to thank the Genk fans for their support throughout all the years I was with them. I love them, but this is a new challenge for me.”

The pacy winger had attracted interest from clubs in France and Germany and was close to joining a Bundesliga side during the January transfer window. However, the move collapsed after Genk and the unnamed German club failed to reach an agreement over the financial terms of the deal.
Sor will now begin a new chapter in Turkey, where he will link up with fellow Nigerian forward Gift Orban as Amedspor prepare for their first-ever campaign in the Süper Lig.
Sor joined Genk in December 2022 and went on to make 72 Jupiler Pro League appearances for the club, scoring 13 goals and providing six assists.
The Nigerian winger will now hope to bring his pace, direct running and attacking threat to Amedspor as they prepare for their historic debut in Turkey’s top flight.
