Ambitious Turkish Sรผper Lig newcomers Amedspor are closing in on the signing of another Nigerian international as they continue to strengthen their squad ahead of their debut season in the top flight. Having completed the loan signing of Super Eagles striker Gift Orban from Bundesliga side Hoffenheim earlier this week, the club have now turned their attention to Belgian outfit KRC Genk winger Yira Sor, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
The 26-year-old, widely regarded as one of the quickest players in the Belgian Pro League after being clocked as the league’s fastest player last season, has emerged as one of Amedspor’s top attacking targets.
Footy-Africa understands that negotiations between Amedspor and Genk are at an advanced stage, with both clubs working to finalise the details of the transfer.
Sor, who made his Super Eagles debut earlier this year during the March international window, has long been linked with a move away from Genk.
During the January transfer window, he attracted interest from clubs in Germany and France, although no deal materialised.
Yira Sor keeps focus on Genk despite growing transfer interest from Turkey
A representative of the player confirmed to footy-africa.com that discussions are progressing well.
“It is true that Amedspor are interested in him, but they are not the only club pursuing him. However, talks between the two sides have been very positive so far,” the representative said.
“Negotiations are still ongoing, but there is a strong possibility that he will end up there within the next few days because the major aspects of the deal have already been agreed. They want him because he perfectly fits the profile of the winger they are looking for. If everything goes according to plan, he should complete the move in the coming days.”
Should the deal be completed, Soro would become the second Nigerian to join Amedspor this summer after Orban, showing the Turkish club’s ambition as they prepare for life in the Sรผper Lig.

Last season, Sor made 43 appearances in all competitions for Genk, scoring six goals and providing two assists.
