Footy-Africa.com can reveal that Jordan Ayew will earn £500,000 gross during his one-year contract with Sheffield United.
The 34-year-old completed his move to the Blades on Tuesday after leaving Leicester City as a free agent following the expiry of his contract.
His deal runs until the end of the 2026/27 season, with clauses that could allow it to be extended.
Ayew’s £500,000 gross salary works out at approximately £41,667 per month before deductions, or around £9,615 per week.
After income tax and National Insurance, he is expected to take home a little over £20,000 per month, depending on his individual tax position and other deductions.
Significant drop from Leicester
The Sheffield United move represents a sizeable reduction in Ayew’s earnings.
The Ghana international was earning significantly more during his time at Leicester, where he spent the 2025/26 season after joining from Crystal Palace.
His decision to join Sheffield United therefore represents a financial sacrifice as he looks to continue playing in England.
Ayew had other options after becoming a free agent, including interest from clubs outside England, but he ultimately opted to remain in the English game.

Why Sheffield United?
The move came together quickly. Ayew revealed that Sheffield United manager Chris Wilder contacted him while he was in Ghana, with the deal progressing rapidly from there.
“It happened really, really quick because I was in Ghana and the manager called me last week,” Ayew said. “I didn’t think twice, I just took the opportunity.”
For Sheffield United, the signing adds an experienced forward to Wilder’s squad.
Ayew has played for Marseille, Sochaux, Lorient, Aston Villa, Swansea City, Crystal Palace and Leicester City during his career and has made more than 500 competitive appearances.
He also captained Ghana at the 2026 World Cup. Wilder believes Ayew’s experience will be valuable to his squad.
“We’re talking about someone here with bags of experience from right at the top level of the game,” Wilder said. “Only a few months ago he was captaining Ghana in the World Cup, so he’s someone with real pedigree.”

What the deal means for Ayew
At £500,000 gross for the season, Ayew’s Sheffield United contract is worth considerably less than some of his previous deals. But the move gives him another opportunity to continue his career in England, where he has spent much of his professional life.
For Sheffield United, the attraction is an experienced Ghana captain who can operate across the front line.
For Ayew, the priority is now to make an impact for Wilder’s side and extend his stay in English football.
