Aston Villa will look to record just their second Premier League win of the season when they welcome Brentford to Villa Park as action resumes in the English top flight after the international break.

Aston Villa vs Brentford match preview

Aston Villa enter this clash on the back of an impressive 3-2 win over Tottenham Hotspur in their last league outing, marking their first Premier League win of the campaign. The Europa League champions saw several high profile names leave the club during the summer, with the likes of Morgan Rogers, Emiliano Martinez, Ollie Watkins and Ezri Konsa key departures.

While they have brought in some replacements, they have struggled badly this season and have now picked up four points from five games. They are currently 16th on the standings and they have scored four goals, conceding nine times.

Brentford, meanwhile, have picked up from where they ended last season and have enjoyed a flying start to the new campaign. The Bees are one of the five remaining unbeaten sides alongside Manchester City, Liverpool, Leeds United and Everton.

They have won two of their five games, while also recording three draws and they currently occupy the fourth position, six points off top spot. Keith Andrews side have also scored 10 times, while they have only allowed in four goals so far in the league this season.
