French-born Ghanaian centre-back Beres Owusu explained his decision to agree on another loan after his previous season-long spell with Quevilly-Rouen Métropole in France.

21-year-old defender was a part of Saint-Étienne youth system before joining the first team in 2024. Not been able to secure a spot in the starting line-up, Owusu spent last season with Quevilly-Rouen Métropole, taking part in 32 games across Championnat National and Coupe de France.

Last week he joined Austrian side Grazer AK 1902 on a season-long deal.

“The club was considering to keep me… but as a substitute. They’ve signed expensive players, and at my age I want to play. After a season as a starter at QRM, I didn’t want to return to the bench. So I asked for a loan, and my agency found me this ambitious project in Austria”, he told Africafoot in the exclusive interview.

“I’ll bring my determination, commitment in duels, speed, and composure Grazer AK 1902. I can also play in all positions in a three-man defensive formation. I signed here to be a starter, and that’s the role I was offered. The goal is clear: to finish in the top six by the break and qualify for the play-offs. It will be difficult, but it’s a great challenge,” Owusu concluded.
