Nigerian forward Yenne Tenton has opened up about the motivation behind his move to Russian Premier League side FC Baltika Kaliningrad, describing it as a step driven by ambition, belief, and a desire to make history once again.

In an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa, the 24-year-old winger shared his excitement over joining the newly promoted to Russian Premier League club and explained why he turned down offers from clubs across Europe and beyond.

“I feel so excited moving from one league to another, especially to the Russian Premier League,” Tenton said. “What convinced me is the high level of the league. The Russian league is very competitive and requires a lot of energy and mobility — and that’s an overview of my style of play. I look forward to doing my best so I can rewrite history like I did in Armenia, by God’s grace.”, told Tenton to Footy-Africa.

Tenton confirmed he had multiple offers from clubs in Belgium, Poland, Israel, and Greece, but ultimately chose FC Baltika based on the league’s challenge and its alignment with his playing style and personal goals.

“I had options from Belgium, Poland, Israel, Greece — so many I can’t start calling them one after the other,” he added.

Tenton leaves the Armenian Premier League with a remarkable legacy, having scored 17 goals last season to become Ararat-Armenia’s all-time top scorer. He also lifted multiple trophies during his time at the club.

His move to Russia now marks a new chapter — one that the Nigerian forward hopes will be just as successful.
