Despite his struggles during his initial six months in La Liga, Nigerian forward Akor Adams will not be sold or loaned out by Sevilla in the summer transfer window, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.

The 25-year-old, who joined Los Palanganas during the January transfer window, was limited to just four appearances, totaling 127 minutes, and scored once for Sevilla. He has been sidelined for much of his debut spell at the club due to injury.

Sevilla’s management is determined to give the striker more time to prove himself and plans to rely on him to lead their attack next season. Given the club’s financial constraints, they are unlikely to sign a high-profile forward this summer.

A source at Aneke Player Management Group, which represents Adams, confirmed that the player has been assured by Sevilla of their decision to retain him for the upcoming campaign.

“They [Sevilla] have informed us that the player will stay, in case there were any doubts about his future at the club. The assurance is that there is no chance he will leave—neither on loan nor permanently—and that’s now decided. The belief is that his struggles were due to injury setbacks, and with a full pre-season, they are confident he will deliver,” the source exclusively told Footy-Africa.

Adams joined Sevilla after one-and-a-half seasons with Montpellier in France, where he made 49 appearances, scoring 13 goals and providing three assists. In his final season there, he registered three goals and one assist in 16 games.

Before his stint at Montpellier, Akor played for Lillestrøm SK in Norway, scoring 28 goals and recording six assists in 50 appearances across all competitions over two-and-a-half seasons. He also previously featured for Sogndal in Norway.
