LASK winger Moses Usor in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has stated that he is delighted to have earned another invitation to the Super Eagles and determined to make the opportunity count.
“It’s truly wonderful, to be honest, to get another invitation. The injury that kept me out of the Unity Cup was incredibly difficult to endure, yet I remained committed and optimistic. Receiving this Super Eagles call-up for these crucial AFCON qualifiers shows that divine providence never abandons us. I’m deeply appreciative and genuinely thrilled.”
Usor also took time to acknowledge 36 Lion, the Lagos-based club where his journey began, saying he wants his progress to serve as an inspiration to young footballers coming through the club.
“I want to dedicate this important part of my career to 36 Lion, my former club that shaped who I am today. My entire journey began there. The club’s staff believed in my potential when I was completely unknown. This selection represents more than just my achievement. It’s a testament to 36 Lion and to every ambitious young athlete in Lagos pursuing their dreams. It proves that the pathway from 36 Lion to the Super Eagles is achievable.”
Reflecting on the injury that ruled him out of the Unity Cup, Usor admitted it was a difficult period but said the support he received from his family, LASK and his former club helped him stay focused on his recovery.
“That injury before the Unity Cup was an exceptionally challenging time. Suffering an injury right before a national team opportunity was emotionally taxing. However, my family, my club LASK and my mentors at 36 Lion provided unwavering encouragement. I remained dedicated to the recovery process, completed my rehabilitation diligently and resolved that I would return even stronger.”

Usor faces strong competition for places in a talented Super Eagles attack that includes Ademola Lookman, Samuel Chukwueze, Moses Simon, Victor Boniface, Taiwo Awoniyi, Tolu Arokodare and Victor Osimhen.
But rather than worrying about the competition, the LASK winger says he is focused on bringing his own qualities to the team and contributing whenever he is called upon.
“I hold tremendous respect for each of them. My objective is to contribute my distinctive strengths, my pace and incisive play, while supporting the team’s objectives. Regardless of the position Coach Eric Chelle assigns me for the Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau matches, I will give my complete commitment.”
With another opportunity to pull on the green and white now within reach, Usor is also hoping to feel the support of Nigerian fans.
“I hope the fans will come out to cheer us on matchday because, if I play, I want to do well and show my sincere gratitude to all Nigerians and everyone who has supported my career from the Czech Republic through Austria. I will represent this nation with honour and dedication. This is merely the beginning. With God’s blessing, I am determined to make you all proud”, he added.
The Austria-based winger was called up for Nigeria’s Unity Cup campaign in May/June earlier this year but was forced to withdraw from the squad after suffering an injury, denying him the chance to make his international debut.
With the Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers now underway, Super Eagles head coach Eric Chelle has handed Usor another opportunity, naming him in the squad for the upcoming fixtures against Madagascar and Guinea-Bissau.
The recall comes after an impressive start to the season for the LASK winger, who has scored two goals and provided three assists in seven appearances.
