Nigeria U-20 captain Daniel Bameyi in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa stated that the Flying Eagles are fired up and ready for their decisive clash against Colombia on Monday.

Bameyi, who recently joined Slovenian side ND Primorje Ajdovščina, is confident the team can get the result they need to keep their World Cup hopes alive.

“We know how important tomorrow’s game is going to be. If we want to remain in the tournament, we must deliver, and that means going all out for the three points,” the 19-year-old exclusively told Footy-Africa.

“It is clear that we have to fight until the very end to make sure we are victorious. Like I said earlier, to stay in the competition, we have to take the bull by the horns and push for the win. Anything short of that puts us at risk, but our mindset is on getting the three points,” he added.

When asked about his role, the skipper downplayed personal ambitions, stressing teamwork above all.

“One thing about me is I don’t like focusing on individuals. It is about the team. Success must come through collective effort. From the technical bench to the players, we are prepared. We have planned, we have strategized, and now we just have to execute on Matchday,” he said.

Bameyi also revealed the squad’s strong sense of unity:

“We are very motivated. The coaches and management have played their part, and as players, we’ve spoken among ourselves, encouraged each other, and committed to the task ahead.”

The Flying Eagles currently sit third in Group F with three points. To progress, they must avoid defeat against table-topping Colombia, who are yet to concede in the tournament.

A draw could still hand Nigeria a lifeline, depending on results from other groups, with four best third-placed teams advancing to the Round of 16.
