Denmark’s Aarhus GF have moved into pole position to sign highly rated Ugandan forward James Bogere, despite growing interest from several Premier League clubs, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.

Aarhus are ahead in negotiations, with El Cambio Academy increasingly leaning toward a move that prioritises the teenager’s long-term development in a lower-pressure, highly structured environment before he eventually makes the jump to one of Europe’s elite leagues.

Brain Jjara the Pulse: Uganda’s maestro powered historic U-17 World Cup run

Bogere has been one of Uganda’s standout performers at the ongoing FIFA U-17 World Cup, netting twice against Canada and France as the Cubs marched into the round of 16. His stock has continued to rise after a sensational qualification campaign for the U-17 Africa Cup of Nations, where he scored seven goals in four matches, including two hat-tricks.

According to data from specialist’s website WhoScored, Bogere also tops the charts for successful dribbles at the U-17 AFCON, completing 35, more than the Ivory Coast’s Moise Diarrassouba (31) and fellow Ugandan Richard Okello (24).

With European interest intensifying, Aarhus appear closest to securing the youngster’s signature.

In an exclusive comment to Footy-Africa, a source within El Cambio Academy confirmed the development:

“Yes, discussions with Aarhus are the most advanced at the moment. For us, the priority is James’ development, and Denmark offers the right environment for him to grow before taking the next big step. Nothing is signed yet, but Aarhus are clearly leading the race.”
