Italian Serie A champions Napoli have set their sights on completing a deal for young exciting winger Abdul Fatawu Issahaku, from English Championship outfit Leicester City in the January transfer window.

Antonio Conte’s squad has been hit by a string of injury setbacks this season, causing their title defence to stumble, and they gave identified the young talent as a key addition to their attack as they aim to strengthen for the second half of the campaign.

Napoli prepared to spend €25m on Leicester’s Abdul Fatawu

The 21-year-old has been one of the most consistent performers for Leicester City since moving to the club from Portuguese side Sporting Lisbon in 2023 and was a bright spot in their dismal 2024-25 campaign, until an unfortunate Anterior Cruciate Ligament tear prematurely ended his season.

The Ghanaian international scored seven times and provided 13 assists in all competitions in his debut season in England and is currently on course to beat that record, as he already has four goals and six assists from 21 appearances this season.

Abdul Fatawu plays prominently on the right wing, but is also an able deputy on the left flank and can also play as an attacking midfielder. The winger’s explosive pace and dribbling also makes him able to beat defenders with ease, which will make him a great asset to the Napoli team.

How much will Abdul Fatawu cost Napoli

Per Transfermarkt, Abdul Fatawu currently has a market value of about €20 million, ranking him as the third most valuable Ghanaian footballer and the most valuable player in Leicester City.

However, the Foxes have placed a €25 million valuation on the 21-year-old, which is €5 million more than his current market value.

The Ghanaian winger also earns about £14,155 per week at the English club, amounting to about €736,044 annually per Capology and should receive a significant pay rise if he eventually makes the switch to Italy. Napoli’s total investments in his signature could be up to about €30 million, depending on the length of the contract he signs if he eventually joins the club.

If a deal is struck in the January transfer window to bring the winger to Italy, Partenopei would secure a valuable addition, potentially helping them in their title defence.
