The Warriors took a shock lead in the first half, but Egypt underlined their status as tournament favorites with a very dominant performance and scored two second half goals through Omar Marmoush and Mohamed Salah to complete the victory. South Africa, meanwhile faced a tough test against Angola in their opening match, but overcame to record a 2-1 victory as well. Bafana Bafana’s goalkeeper Ronwen Williams was a key performer in that clash and could also prove decisive facing the very impressive Egyptians on match-day two. They have only won the tournament once, in 1996, but finished third in the 2023 edition in Ivory Cost after defeating DR Congo in the bronze medal match and will be eyeing an improved outing this time around.

Player to watch: Lyle Foster (South Africa)

The Burnley striker Lyle Foster led from the front against Zimbabwe, providing the assist for the opener and scoring the winner with a neat finish.

The 25-year-old impressive linkup play with the wingers and ability to create spaces for teammates will be a major source of threat for South Africa in the clash.
