Raja Club Athletic are weighing up a move for Nigerian striker Peter Itodo as they look to solve an escalating goalscoring crisis, according to Africafoot.
The 22-year-old, currently playing in Ukraine with Metalist 1925 Kharkiv, has been proposed to the Casablanca club’s hierarchy by intermediaries as a solution to their urgent search for a new centre-forward.
While Itodo’s name is formally “on the table,” Raja have yet to make a concrete move. No verbal or written agreements have been reached, with the club’s board still deliberating over their January recruitment strategy.
The rise of Itodo
Despite his young age, Itodo has built a reputation as a clinical finisher across several European leagues.
The Lagos-born striker first made waves in Albania, where he enjoyed a breakout 2023-24 season with Luzi 2008, netting 19 times in just 33 appearances. That form earned him a move to Dinamo City, where his 12 league goals were instrumental in the club securing the Albanian Cup.
His progress continued with a summer move to Metalist 1925 Kharkiv in 2025. Itodo has adapted quickly to the Ukrainian top flight, scoring seven goals across all competitions so far this season, including a standout performance in the Ukrainian Cup.
What would he bring to Raja?
Standing at 1.88m (6ft 2in), Itodo offers the physical presence that Raja’s frontline has lacked this term. Known for his aerial dominance and “poacher” instincts inside the penalty area, he fits the profile of the traditional number nine that the Moroccan giants are desperate to recruit.
However, the Green Eagles face a race against time to bolster their squad before the transfer window closes.
Whether they pull the trigger on a deal for the Nigerian remains to be seen, with the final decision resting solely with the club’s decision-makers in Casablanca.
