Team news

Morocco will be without influential playmaker Azzedine Ounahi, who has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament. The 25-year-old suffered a calf injury in training and was seen using crutches during the win over Tanzania. Bilal El Khannouss is expected to continue in his place.

Real Madrid’s Brahim Diaz remains the man in form for the hosts, having scored four goals in as many games this tournament. Captain Achraf Hakimi is fit to start after providing the assist for the winner in the previous round.

Cameroon are monitoring the fitness of Brighton midfielder Carlos Baleba, who was forced off late in the win over South Africa. However, the Indomitable Lions have been bolstered by the emergence of teenage forward Christian Kofane, who has scored in back-to-back matches.

Stoke City’s Junior Tchamadeu is also expected to keep his place in defense after scoring the opener in the Round of 16.

View from the camps

Morocco coach Walid Regragui:

“We respect Cameroon’s history, but we are playing in front of our own fans and our goal is simple. We have to be disciplined and clinical. At this stage of the tournament, there is no room for error.”

Cameroon coach David Pagou:

“Morocco are the favourites as hosts, but we have shown a lot of fighting spirit to get here. We aren’t afraid of the atmosphere in Rabat; we thrive in these big matches.”

Match facts

  • Cameroon are unbeaten in their three previous AFCON meetings with Morocco (W2 D1).
