Cagliari Calcio have re-signed Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana on a loan deal, until the end of the season, Footy-Africa.com can confirm.
A source close to the player says the Serie A club will cover Sulemana’s full salary. The move is aimed at ensuring regular playing time as the 21-year-old targets a place in Ghana’s squad for the 2026 World Cup. An official announcement is expected in the coming hours, with all terms agreed and signed.
Sulemana previously spent a season with Cagliari before earning a transfer to Atalanta BC. He joined the Bergamo-based side in the summer of 2024 for €7.4 million, just a year after Cagliari had signed him for €4 million.
Atalanta sent the midfielder on loan to Bologna FC 1909 in September, with an option to buy set at €11 million. However, in search of consistent minutes, Sulemana has moved again, with the player and his management agreeing to another loan opportunity.
Cagliari initiated talks with both Atalanta and Bologna to bring the player back to Sardinia, and their strong working relationship with Atalanta helped them gain advantage to re-sign the player, as they were other clubs lurking.
Sulemana is under contract with Atalanta until June 30, 2028, and is currently valued at €7 million.
