Nigerian midfielder Joseph Okuaghare in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa has said that making his first-team debut for Danish side FC Midtjylland in the Superliga on Sunday was a dream come true.
Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa after the game, elated Okuaghare said he is happy with how far he has come from Nigeria to Denmark and wants to make the most of every chance he gets at the club.
“It is so amazing coming all the way from Nigeria to this point, FC Ebedei to be precise,” he said. “Growing up in Lagos and getting to a place like this feels like magic. First of all, I want to thank God Almighty, and then Mr Churchill Oliseh for always being there for me, being a father and being so much more than we can say.”
“I want to thank the coaches and staff at FC Ebedei, and even the coaches here at FC Midtjylland, for the opportunity to make my first-team debut. There is so much to say, and I’m just happy that I can be an inspiration to the younger lads coming from Nigeria. Working hard through the ranks and making my first-team debut is a dream come true, and proof that hard work pays.”

“I want to do more for the club and hopefully become an established player and help them win many matches and titles. That is my aim for now, while the long-term goal is to feature for the Super Eagles,” he concluded.
The 18-year-old joined Midtjylland’s U19 side from partner club FC Ebedei in September and has moved quickly through the ranks at the club to get a call-up to the first team.
On Sunday, he made his first league appearance, coming on in the 86th minute for Kjell Wätjen in a 3-2 win over Lyngby, earning all three points in his first Superligaen game.
