Guinea-born striker Sidiki Cherif is on the verge of completing a move to English Premier League side Crystal Palace, who are close to agreeing a deal with French outfit Angers.

The young forward joined Angers youth setup in 2019, before earning promotion to the first team in 2023 and he has enjoyed a breakout season in Ligue One in the current campaign. The 19-year-old has made 18 appearances in the league and has scored four times.

The FA Cup holders are set to pay around €20 million including add-ons for the highly-rated attacker who is expected to sign a five-year contract at Selhurst Park.

The English club view Cherif as a potential long-term replacement for Jean-Philippe Mateta, who has been linked with a January exit from the club amid interest from Juventus, Aston Villa and Manchester United. The Eagles are also encouraged by the youngster’s versatility, as he can operate through the middle and also comfortably on the flanks.

Transfer fee and contract details

Crystal Palace are currently working on a deal that is worth around €20 million plus add-ons to bring the exciting forward to the English Premier League.

The fee would make Cherif the second most expensive departure in the history of Angers, following the €25 million sale of Jeff Reine-Adelaide in the 2019-20 season. The youngster will sign a five year deal at Selhurst Park, which will keep him at the club until 2031.

The Eagles are hoping to beat competition from the likes of German club Eintracht Frankfurt and Italian giants AC Milan to his signature.

How much will Cherif earn at Crystal Palace

Per Capology, Sidiki Cherif currently earns around €7,885 per week plus bonuses, which amounts to around €410,000 per year.

However, he is expected to receive an upgrade in pay when he completes his transfer to Crystal Palace before the end of the transfer window and will become the club’s second arrival following the club-record £35 million signing of Brennan Johnson.

From Western France to South London

Sidiki Cherif rose through the ranks at Angers, before making his debut for the club in 2024. He has already become an integral member of the Black and Whites squad this season, as they chase a top half finish.

The youngster is set to seal a dream move to the English Premier League and will be eager to build on his performances as he continues his rise to the top.
