Ligue 1 side RC Lens have intensified talks over the potential signing of Black Stars and FC Basel defender Jonas Adjetey, with the 22-year-old understood to be open to a move, sources have told Footy-Africa.
The highly rated centre-back, currently valued at €7 million on Transfermarkt, has been on Lens’ radar since the 2025 summer transfer window.
Although negotiations failed to progress at the time, the French outfit have renewed their interest and are keen on finalising a deal during the ongoing winter window.
However, any move for Adjetey is expected to be complicated. The Ghana international is held in high regard at FC Basel, where he remains a key figure in the club’s long-term plans.
Basel are therefore reluctant to sanction a mid-season departure, making a winter transfer difficult to execute despite Lens’ strong interest.

Footy-Africa can confirm that Adjetey, for his part, is understood to be attracted by the prospect of playing in Ligue 1, widely regarded as one of Europe’s top five leagues, and sees the move as a potential step forward in his career.
The commanding defender enjoyed an impressive 2024/25 campaign, making 32 league appearances as FC Basel clinched the Swiss Super League title. He has carried that form into the current season, registering 12 league starts so far and continuing to establish himself as one of the most dependable young defenders in Switzerland.
Adjetey’s consistent club performances have also enhanced his standing within the Black Stars setup, further increasing his profile across Europe as clubs monitor his development closely
