Arsenal host Manchester United in the match of the round on Matchday 23 of the 2025-26 English Premier League season, hoping to consolidate their position at the top of the standings.

Ayomide Oguntimehin provides more insight into the January 25th clash at the Emirates Stadium.

Arsenal vs Man United match preview

Arsenal extended their lead at the top of the league standings to seven points over second-placed Manchester City following their goalless draw at Nottingham Forest in their last outing. It was their second consecutive scoreless draw in the league, although it had little effect on their lead at the top as the chasing pack all dropped points in both matches.

The Gunners have won 15 of their 22 matches and have only lost twice this season. They have also scored the second most goals and have the best defence with 14 goals conceded.

Manchester United, meanwhile, recorded an impressive 2-0 win over Manchester City in their last outing, in caretaker manager Michael Carrick’s first game at the dugout since rejoining the club. The former Middlesbrough manager had replaced Ruben Amorim at the club, following the Portuguese’s dismissal earlier in the month.

The Red Devils are now up to fifth on the table with 35 points and are just one point behind fourth-placed Liverpool.

(Last five meetings)

  • 17.08.2025 – Man United 0-1 Arsenal
  • 09.03.2025 – Man United 1-1 Arsenal
  • 12.01.2025 – Arsenal 1-1 Man United
  • 04.12.2024 – Arsenal 2-0 Man United
  • 12.05.2024 – Man United 0-1 Arsenal

Arsenal have dominated this matchup in recent meetings, while Manchester United have not won any of the last seven matches in 90 minutes.

Recent Form: Arsenal

Arsenal have been in impressive form and are currently on an 11-game unbeaten run, although they are winless in their last two league outings.

The Gunners have only failed to score three times in all of their matches across all competitions this season and have also conceded the least amount of goals in the league.

Recent Form: Manchester United

Manchester United have been inconsistent in recent outings and the derby win in their last outing was their first in five matches.

The Red Devils have struggled to keep clean sheets this season and they have conceded the most goals among the top 10 in the league with 32.

Player to Watch: Bryan Mbeumo

Bryan Mbeumo returned from action at the 2025 African Cup of Nations with a goal in the Manchester derby win last weekend.

The Cameroon forward’s pace and threat from set-pieces would help his side greatly in this encounter.

This game should be a high-scoring affair especially with Manchester United’s new pattern of play and Arsenal’s quality upfront.
