Uganda Premier League top scorer Ivan Ahimbisibwe is on the verge of completing a move to Tanzanian Premier League giants Azam FC from KCCA FC, Footy-Africa can exclusively confirm.
A source close to the negotiations has revealed that the two clubs have reached a verbal agreement for the transfer of the prolific striker, with Azam FC set to compensate KCCA FC for the remaining year on his contract.
Ahimbisibwe is expected to sign a two-year contract with the Dar es Salaam-based side once the final details of the deal are completed.
The forward heads to Tanzania after enjoying the last two seasons in outstanding fashion in the Uganda Premier League. He emerged as the league’s top scorer in the recently concluded campaign after netting 14 goals to claim the Golden Boot award.

The Ugandan international had also enjoyed a prolific 2024/25 season, scoring 16 league goals, underlining his consistency in front of goal and establishing himself as one of the most feared attackers in the region.
His performances have not gone unnoticed at national team level either. Ahimbisibwe has earned eight caps for the Uganda Cranes and has scored three international goals, becoming an increasingly important figure for the national side.
The move to Azam FC represents a significant step in the striker’s career as he seeks to test himself in one of East Africa’s most competitive leagues. Azam, who are among Tanzania’s biggest clubs, have been strengthening their squad ahead of the new season and view Ahimbisibwe as a key addition to bolster their attacking options.
Should the transfer be finalized as expected, Ahimbisibwe will become the latest Ugandan player to make the switch to the Tanzanian top flight, continuing the growing trend of Ugandan talent attracting interest from clubs across the region.
