Ghana legend Asamoah Gyan in an exclusive interview with Footy-Africa expressed confidence that the Black Stars will book their ticket to the 2026 FIFA World Cup, insisting the team has the quality and mentality to finish the job in the final round of qualifiers.

Gyan has joined the national team in Morocco ahead of their two decisive fixtures against the Central African Republic and Comoros. The former captain has been a visible presence in camp, interacting with players and offering words of encouragement as Ghana looks to seal a fifth World Cup appearance.

Speaking exclusively to Footy-Africa before travelling with the squad, Gyan expressed strong belief in the team’s potential.

“The Black Stars have enough quality to beat any opponent,” he said. “I’m very confident because you can see most of the players are in top form for their clubs. These matches are huge for the team and for the country, and I believe the boys are ready to give everything. The spirit is good, and if we stay focused, qualification is very possible.”

The all-time leading African scorer in World Cup history praised the current generation, pointing to the form of several key players. Before the international break, Mohammed Kudus scored his first goal for Tottenham, Antoine Semenyo netted a stunning brace for Bournemouth, while Fatawu Issahaku continues to shine in the English Championship.

“Otto Addo will be delighted with what he’s seeing from his players,” Gyan added. “This is a group with real potential; young, hungry, and talented. They just have to believe in themselves and play with the same passion they show at club level. Everything is in their hands.”

Gyan, who represented Ghana at four World Cups and scored six goals on the global stage, knows what it takes to succeed at that level. He hopes his experience and presence in camp can inspire the players to reach new heights.

Ghana will face the Central African Republic on Wednesday in Meknes before hosting Comoros at the Accra Sports Stadium on Sunday.

The Black Stars need at least four points from the two games to confirm qualification, though a win on Wednesday could be enough depending on other results in Group I.
