Europa League champions Aston Villa are set to reignite their pursuit of Senegalese forward Nicolas Jackson from Chelsea this summer.
Villa were interested in signing the former Villarreal forward last summer before he eventually joined Bayern Munich on a loan deal until the end of the season.
Jackson has now returned to Chelsea where a major decision on his future awaits, giving Aston Villa a big chance of signing him.
Profile
Jackson joined Chelsea from Villarreal in 2023 and was an important part of their squad for two campaigns. However, his profligacy in front of goal cost him his place and saw him eventually move to Bayern Munich on a loan deal.
The German champions did not take up the option to make the move permanent, which then saw the 25-year-old return to the Stamford Bridge last month.
Aston Villa are in need of major attacking reinforcements this summer and Unai Emery’s side are pleased with Jackson’s workrate and linkup play in attack, as they seek to mount a serious challenge on their return to the UEFA Champions League and also challenge for the Premier League title next season.
