Barcelona have re-signed Ghanaian youngster Abdul Aziz Issah on loan from Dreams FC in a deal worth $20,000, a source close to the player has told Footy-Africa.
The agreement, finalised on Tuesday, sees Issah return to Barca Athletic, the reserve side of the Spanish giants. His representative travelled to Barcelona to complete the paperwork and address lingering concerns after a difficult first spell in Spain, where he featured for just 26 minutes across two appearances.
Initial signs were positive as the 19-year-old trained with the first team, but he struggled for playing time and was unable to establish himself.
“Issah’s management weren’t too pleased with the minutes he got last time,” the source said. “But they appreciated that the club respected his national team duties and allowed him to join the U-20 side for the AFCON in Egypt.”
Barca Athletic coach Juliano Belletti reportedly pushed for the player’s return this summer.
“Belletti really likes Issah’s profile,” the source added. “He sees him as someone who can add quality and energy to the midfield this season.”
Issah made his senior debut for Ghana in June 2025 during the Black Stars’ victory over Trinidad & Tobago in the Unity Cup in London. He has long been regarded as one of the brightest young midfielders in Ghana, having impressed during Dreams FC’s memorable run to the CAF Confederation Cup semifinals two seasons ago.
His current contract with Dreams FC runs until June 2026.
