Brentford have seen multiple bids rejected in their attempt to sign AS Trenčín winger Sani Suleiman, sources exclusively told Footy-Africa.
The Premier League club had been reported earlier this week to be keen on the highly rated Nigeria Under-20 international, but an initial offer was turned down by the Slovak side.
Footy-Africa understands that Brentford returned with an improved bid, only for AS Trenčín to reject the proposal once again. The latest setback has forced the Bees to slow their approach, with a deal now considered unlikely unless there is a significant change in circumstances.
Brentford return with improved offer for AS Trenčín teenager Sani Suleiman
AS Trenčín are believed to be holding out for a fee in the region of €5m to €6m for the 19-year-old winger.
Brentford have already strengthened their attacking options with the signing of 18-year-old Club Brugge forward Kaye Furo, a move that could further reduce their urgency to complete a deal for Suleiman.
Meanwhile, competition for the winger’s signature is intensifying. Footy-Africa reports that Bundesliga clubs Bayer Leverkusen and RB Leipzig have both shown concrete interest and have been in discussions with Trenčín for some time.
Leipzig, in particular, are said to be strong admirers of the player and have held several rounds of talks with the Slovak club. Both German sides are considering offers that could exceed Brentford’s previous bids.
Tottenham Hotspur are also understood to have re-entered the race, while Villarreal, AC Milan, Anderlecht and Sevilla have all been credited with an interest.
