Brighton & Hove Albion have emerged as serious contenders in the race to sign FC Nordsjaelland midfield prodigy Caleb Yirenkyi, as the Premier League club continues to mine Danish football for elite young talent, Footy-Africa can exclusively report.

The 19-year-old Ghanaian has enjoyed a rapid rise since arriving at Nordsjaelland from the Right to Dream academy in March 2024, quickly establishing himself as one of the most exciting midfielders in Scandinavia. Comfortable across multiple roles in midfield, Yirenkyi’s blend of intelligence, energy and technical quality has not gone unnoticed across Europe.

Exclusive to Footy-Africa, sources close to the player suggest movement could be imminent:

“Talks have accelerated significantly, and there is genuine optimism on all sides,” a source revealed. “If everything continues on this trajectory, there is a real possibility that an agreement could be reached within the next couple of days. Nothing is signed yet, but the feeling is that things are moving very fast.”

Brighton’s interest adds fresh momentum to speculation surrounding the teenager, who had previously been linked with Arsenal. With admirers spread across several top leagues, the Seagulls are now closely monitoring his situation, viewing him as a natural fit for their long-term recruitment model.

Despite the growing attention, Nordsjaelland remain well protected. Yirenkyi is tied to the Danish outfit until the summer of 2030, placing the club in a strong negotiating position. Since breaking into the first team, he has made close to 40 appearances across all competitions, underlining both his durability and importance to the squad.

His progress has also been mirrored on the international stage. Yirenkyi has already earned eight senior caps for Ghana, a significant achievement for a player still in his teens, and further evidence of his accelerated development.

Brighton’s familiarity with the Nordsjaelland–Right to Dream pathway could play a decisive role. The club previously recruited Simon Adingra and Ibrahim Osman through the same channel, with both players making the leap from Denmark after graduating from the academy system. That established relationship may give Brighton an edge in any potential negotiations.

In the current campaign, Yirenkyi has featured 17 times for Nordsjaelland, contributing one goal and four assists while continuing to mature into a commanding midfield presence.
