Crystal Palace are growing increasingly uneasy over the progress of Christantus Uche, only a few months after the forward arrived on loan from Getafe.
Sky Sports News reports that Uche has found it difficult to adapt to life in England, and with no break clause in the season-long agreement signed on 1 September, Palace would need to reopen talks with Getafe should they wish to end the deal early.
No return to Spain: Uche determined to fight for Crystal Palace spot
Both club and player are expected to reassess the situation in January if there is no improvement. The loan would automatically turn into a permanent transfer should Uche make 10 starts for Palace, but he has featured for just seven minutes in the Premier League and the same amount in the Conference League so far.
Palace are believed to be covering wages of around £45,000 a week and paid a £3m fee for the loan — a sum Getafe are unlikely to reimburse. One option is for Uche to remain as a bench player for the rest of the campaign before returning to Spain, with Palace continuing to monitor his progress through November and December.
The 23-year-old’s rise has been rapid: he was playing amateur football in Nigeria only three years ago before moving to Morali in Spain’s fifth tier, then spending a season with Cueta prior to joining Getafe.

Regardless of Uche’s situation, Palace are expected to target another attacking signing in January, particularly with Ismaila Sarr set to depart for the Africa Cup of Nations.
