Uganda Cranes striker Denis Omedi has sealed a switch to Kenyan record champions Gor Mahia, committing his future to the club on a two-year contract.
The Nairobi-based giants unveiled the forward on Friday evening through their official social media channels, confirming the arrival of one of Uganda’s most highly rated attackers ahead of the new campaign.
“We are delighted to confirm the signing of Ugandan striker Denis Omedi; the Ugandan goal machine has put pen to paper and is ready to light up the green and white. Welcome to the fortress Omedi,” reads the message.
Omedi heads to Kenya after parting ways with Rwandan powerhouse APR, where he spent the previous season before becoming a free agent at the end of his stay.
The 30-year-old had been strongly linked with a return to the Uganda Premier League, with KCCA among the clubs reportedly interested in securing his signature. However, the move never came to fruition, paving the way for Gor Mahia to win the race for his services.
Before his stint in Rwanda, Omedi established himself as one of Uganda’s most prolific forwards during spells with Kitara FC and Booma FC, performances that also earned him recognition with the Uganda Cranes.
His arrival bolsters Gor Mahia’s attacking options as the Kenyan heavyweights continue to reinforce their squad for the upcoming season.
