Premier League side Nottingham Forest have completed a move for Ivorian defender Ousmane Diomande from Portuguese side Sporting CP ahead of next season.
The Tricky Trees are aiming to enjoy a more productive campaign in the 2026-27 season after narrowly avoiding relegation in the Premier League last season.
Club owner Evangelos Marinakis has since dismissed Vitor Pereira and replaced him with former Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner, as they target a more improved showing next season.
They have now completed a move for Diomande, who now leaves Sporting after three years, since joining them in 2023 from Danish side Midtjylland.
Glasner’s preference for a three at the back system contributed largely to their interest in the 22-year-old and his potential to grow into a long term option for the club.
Transfer fee and contract details
Nottingham Forest have agreed a fee worth €40 million (£34 million) for the signature of Diomande from Sporting CP and becomes their second addition of the summer after Austrian midfielder Xaver Schlager, who joined on a free transfer earlier in the summer.
The 22-year-old will sign a four-year contract at the club with the option of an additional year, potentially keeping him at the City Ground until 2030.

Salary details: How much will Diomande earn at Nottingham Forest
Per Capology, Ousmane Diomande previously earned around €4.3 million per year during his time at Sporting and will be expected to earn a significant upgrade in pay after completing his move to Nottingham Forest.
The €40 million fee paid by Forest already ranks the Ivorian defender as their fourth most expensive signing in history.
From Lisbon to England
Diomande joined Sporting in 2023 and went on to become a key player for the club, making over 100 appearances for the first team and helping them to three titles during his time at the club.
